Working together intensively with limited resources, a devoted team of city, state, church, community end-users, developers and designers believed that this community, with such a strong past, could once again hold a bright future. This “tenant fit-out” occured within a vacant Victorian brewery complex which was the first phase of a renovation and urban renewal effort. The project provided a friendly atmosphere to house a range of activities from socializing, eating and lectures to billiards, library, reading, card playing/games, art projects, dancing/exercise, computer lab, medical suite, administrative offices, toilets, shower and laundry. The design focussed on creating an open environment which maximized flexibility of use while making patrons fell part of a community and inspiring them with adjacent activities.
